Sweet Kitty Bellairs (1. Overview. An 1. 8th- century English flirt wins the heart of a notorious highwayman. In 1. 8th- century England, a coach bound for Bath carries gouty Lord Verney, a maid named Lydia, and the famous flirt known as Sweet Kitty Bellairs, en route to visit her sister Julia, wife of Sir Jasper Standish.
They are all robbed by a highwayman, who returns Kitty's valuables, along with kisses and embraces. Kitty enchants the people of Bath; receiving a burning poem from the shy Lord Verney and a pledge from the highwayman. She also causes Standish to think his wife has been unfaithful and that Verney is the culprit. Later, when Standish, who mistrusts everyone except Verney, discovers Verney with Kitty in a compromising situation, Verney claims she is to be his wife. The following night, the highwayman kidnaps Kitty and reveals himself to be Captain O'Hara. He fights with a masked stranger, Verney, who wins and claims Kitty.
My Review: Somehow these early talkie films-whether they are musical, drama or comedy- are tiresome to me. It’s a humorous little musical romp lasting only an hour long. I believe it’s brief. Online shopping from a great selection at Movies & TV Store.
